Tunisia: Launch of a Promotional Campaign to Encourage Young People to Don Traditional Garments

Tunis — As part of Tunisia's celebration of the handicrafts national day held every March 16, a promotional campaign was launched from March 1st to 31 by the National Board of handicrafts (ONA), dubbed "The clothes of our ancestors, a model for our children."

The event is organized by the Ministry of Commerce and Handicrafts, in cooperation with the National Federation of Handicrafts. 250 craftsmen specialized in various traditional garments, including the "Chachia", "Djebba", "Bournous", "Farmla", "Kaftan" and embroidery, have joined the campaign, in addition to the "Golden Khomssa" winners.

On the occasion, the national board of handicrafts prepared flyers which include a list of the craftsmen names and addresses. This promotional campaign is an opportunity for Tunisian artisan designers to showcase their products.

The 27th edition of the Handicrafts exhibition will be held from March 12 to 21, at the international the El Kram International Exhibtion Hall. The Fair will enable young entrepreneurs to display their products, as well as setting up potential business contacts with foreign businessmen.
