Nigeria: NHRC Cautions Aliero Over Planned Demolition of Lugbe, Garki Houses

Abuja — National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has called on Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Adamu Aliero, to stop the planned demolition of houses at Lugbe and Garki villages until adequate arrangements have been made to resettle families that would be affected by the exercise.

Department of Development Control of the Ministry for FCT is said to have concluded arrangements to evict over 200,000 families from their homes and business premises in Lugbe village, a suburb of Abuja.
