Uganda: Drug Store Businesses Worry Patients

Kampala — Patients in Iganga Hospital have expressed concern over the continued reliance on private drug shops for prescribed medicine.

Kenneth Muhumuza, an in-patient attendant, said some medical workers demand that patients buy drugs at a particular drug shop.

The district health officer, Dr. David Muwanguzi attributed the sudden increase in drug shops to businessmen out to make a fortune.

"The Government sends drugs and we have them in store but traders realised that quick cash can be made out of, " Muwanguzi disclosed to reporters recently.
