Eritrea: This Year's National School Leaving Exams to Be Held March 15 to 20

Asmara — The National School Leaving Exams for 2010 would be held from March 15 to 20 across the country and abroad, according to Dr. Bissrat Gebru, Director of the Bureau of Standards and Evaluation in the National Board of Higher Education Institution.

Stating that around 21,794 students including 8,176 females are expected to take part in the exams, she said that the number has risen by 28% from the pervious year. About 14,650 students out of whom 5,998 are females are students of the Warsai-Yikealo School in Sawa, and the remaining are those participating in the exams for the second time.

Dr. Bissrat indicated that the exams would be carried out in 14 centers in all the administrative regions of the country, while those who have been pursuing education at the secondary level in the international schools in Jeddah and Riyadh respectively.

According to reports, the exams would comprise 14 subjects and would be given in both the English and Arabic languages. 54% of the exam participants would be in science and 46% in arts, the reports added.
