Harare — It's yet another jolly good weekend for music lovers as artistes from Mozambique and Botswana invade Harare for several shows.
Abilio, famed for the hit song "Jokonia" popularly known as "Joko Joko", Jeff Matheatau and Franco are expected to light up the stages throughout the city. The Botswana duo of Matheatau and Franco will join Winky D and Alick "Extrabasso" Macheso for three shows starting tonight at Pamuzinda, then Chitungwiza Aquatic Complex tomorrow and the Harare Gardens on Sunday.
The three shows are expected to give music fans a treat, as the artistes are excellent performers in their own right. Abilio is a special guest at Boyz DzeSmoko's album launch slated for Mega 1 Bar in Harare tomorrow.
This is the first time that Abilio -- who is causing a stir in Zimbabwe with Jokonia -- performs on local turf. On the other hand, Boyz DzeSmoko -- fronted by Leeroy "Kamusena" Lunga, are expected to thrill their fans following their return from Mozambique where they have been holding shows.
"Panorira Ngoma" is their sixth album. The show will be further enhanced by the presence of one of Zimbabwe's most sought-after musicians, Suluman Chimbetu and Moses Rwizi.
On Sunday, Kamusena and his group will hold a farewell show at Dzivarasekwa Sports Bar where Abilio and Rwizi are also billed to perform. Sungura musician Tongai Moyo this weekend plays at Homeplus Night Club in Zengeza 4 after a long absence.
Sam Mtukudzi this week performs solo in a show dubbed "Nzou neMhuru Mudanga" to be held at Sports Diner tomorrow. This will be after Suluman entertains patrons at the same joint tonight. Dance outfit Millennium Queens does what it knows best at Central Bar in the capital tonight, while Explosion Dance Group takes over the same joint tomorrow.
Resident DJ Irvine "DJ Vine" Matema will be on the turntables. JM Crew -- the afro-jazz outfit that used to back the late musician Josphat Masters -- will tonight hold a commemorative show at Sahwira Café in Mufakose.
Reggae outfit Transit Crew will be performing at the Red Fox tonight where the visiting French Dj Ben Montre'sor will share the decks with Zimbabwean top DJ Smoove tomorrow.
