The United Muslim Women Advocacy and Empowerment Organization has concluded a one day Civic Education forum for local women in the Red Hill Community in Virginia, Monrovia.

The forum under the theme: "Promoting Local Women Leadership for Sustainable Community Empowerment and Development," was held under the auspices of Trust Africa and the United Muslim Women Advocacy and Empowerment Organization (UMWAEO).

Speaking at the start of the forum held over the weekend in the Red Hill Community, the program officer of the United Muslim Women Advocacy and Empowerment Organization, Badiatu Tunis Dukuly said the forum was intended to teach the local women about their responsibility and role in society when it comes to the aspect of women's participation in the decision making process.

Mrs. Dukuly said many women in the country have been sitting down too long on the fence or in their respective homes either because of reluctance on their part or they may not be fully aware of the role they need to play in the decision -making process of the country and as a result, she said their husbands take decisions on their own which sometimes would not favor them, but have to accept it the other way just as it is.

She said the forum was also intended to show or teach the women about promoting local women leadership skills for sustainable community empowerment and development.

Responding, Rev. James O. Jallah who is the Chairman of Elders in the Red Hill Community and also a participant of the educative forum, thanked the organizers for the forum, while a lady identified as Miama who deputized for Red hill Community chairlady said, the forum educated them about the role women need to play in society and that the forum brought them an experience which they as a women would never forget and would continue to learn from were they have started. The forum brought together over two hundred women, men and youth leaders from the Red hill Community.
