Dar Es Salaam — THE African Entertainment Society of Iringa will coordinate the Inter-University Music Festival Competition 2010, of which three universities in Iringa town will be participants.
The universities are Iringa University College of Tumaini (Iuco), Ruaha University College (Ruco) and Mkwawa University College of Education (Muce).
African Entertainment Society official George Nindi, said the competition aims at providing young professional musicians in universities with a challenging musical environment, so as to help them develop skills in orchestral, chamber music, singing and solo performance.
Nindi said the performance at Ruaha University College will be held on March 20, in Iringa University College of Tumaini the competition will be staged on March 25, while in Mkwawa University College of Education the performance will be on April 4.
Nindi said the first winner in every university will enter the final competition that will be held on April 8 at Twisters club here in Iringa. The Chairperson of the festival, Florian Mkinya also said that the event is open to all students at the respective universities.
He said apart from all finalists to receive an Internet Modem prize, the first winner from the three finalists will receive a laptop prize worth 900,000/-.
Additionally, the winner will be invited to record his/her music video in one of the best recording studio in Dar es Salaam. He said the shows will be accompanied with different bongofleva musicians from Dar es Salaam.
