Uganda: Four Held Over Fisherman's Death

Kampala — The Police in Buikwe district are holding four fishermen from Lubya landing site in Buvuma Islands over allegations of killing their colleague and dumping the body in Lake Victoria. Moses Oloka, Steven Sekalo, Swaib Magumba and Kasimu Bampoliki allegedly killed George Osege on March 1.

Osege was a fisherman in their group. Osege's body was found floating on Lake Victoria three days later, with some of his body parts, like the tongue and private parts, missing. It was alleged that on the day he died, Osege was seen with the suspects performing a ritual.

The Lugazi CID chief, Joseph Ojinga, said the ritual involved slaughtering animals and poultry. Ojinga said one of the suspects was found in a blood stained trouser. The suspects have, however, denied the allegations.
