The morning session of the on-going Vanguard post amnesty conference holding at Delta State Government House Annex, Warri was Monday disrupted by a bomb explosion which went off in a car park close to the venue.

Meantime, the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta, MEND, has since claimed responsibility for the unfortunate incident. The MEND statement allegedly signed by Gbomo Jomo reads: "After receiving the baton of ignorance from his Bayelsa state counterpart, the governor of Delta State declared in the Vanguard newspaper of February 22, 2010 that "the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) is a media creation."

"Thinking  of no better way to announce our continued presence in the Niger Delta to Mr Uduaghan, operatives of  MEND today March 15, 2010, successfully breached the security at the Delta state government house in Warri  and planted three explosive devices in and around this compound which is the venue of the Vanguard Post Amnesty Dialogue organised by the Vanguard newspaper……"

"It is common knowledge that no southerner can lay claim to an inch of land in the North so why should we continue to talk as the occupation of our land and theft of our resources by the oil companies and Northern Nigeria persists? "

Meanwhile, the Action Congress, AC has condemned the attack.

Unfortunately it has culminated to this showing a transformation from kidnapping to armed struggle and now car bombing. The Niger Delta economic and political freedom fighters are making clear statements. What is at stake is that the trillions of dollars derived from their back yard are used to build up the North-Abuja and the West-Lagos while they live in abject poverty.

This is 419 instituted by many years of denials by the Northern led successive governments in Nigeria. It is ironical that if you line up the millionaires and Billionaires of Nigeria 90% of them came from the North but the entire money comes from the South. It is leading to a full-scale revolution paving the way for political independence.

One must be saddened by the terrorist act that engulfed the Amnesty Conference in Warri on Monday. This act, however, must be condemned by every well meaning Nigerians regardless of your tribe Ibo,Yoruba or Hausa.Although this act deserved to be investigated and those involved be punished,it will also serve as a wakeup call to those holding political powers in Nigeria that it is time for them to look into their closets and cleanup their corrupt ways and let every Nigeria be part of the Economic share holder[s] and only on the hands so called political elites e.g those from the North who myopically feel that the Nation wealth belongs to them as long as they control the executive branch of Government by any means giving no consideration to the rest of the Country. There is a lesson to be learnt here from this coward and horrific act,[a] Most Nigerians are not happy with their corrupt political leadership either locals, states and Federal.[b]Nigerians want and demand Democracy and transparency.[c]Nigerians want fair share of their Nation wealth that as at now benefits few powerful politiacal elites that have maintained the quota system without ceasing.More importantly, Nigerians want good education, good roads, employment and good healthcare for their children and not more corruption from their Governors or any other politician for that matter. These political crooks need to listen to the cries of the people, democracy is far to be achieved.
