Nigeria: Kwara Residents Warned Against Dumping Refuse in River

Ilorin — The Kwara State Government has urged all residents along the river bank of Asa river to the desist from dumping refuse in the river as rain was fast approaching.

The Special Adviser to the State Governor on Emergency Relief Services, Alhaji Kayode Yusuf, stated this yesterday while participating on a Radio Kwara Yoruba programme "Ibi Abasede".

The Special Adviser added that the state government will however continue to respond promptly to the aid of victims of natural disaster in the State.

Alhaji Yusuf said that a committee had been put in place under the chairmanship of the State Deputy Governor, Chief Joel Ogundeji, to ensure prompt provision of relief materials to victims.

He commended the State Fire Services for its quick response to fire disasters and implored the people of the State to stay away from anything that could cause fire outbreak.

Alhaji Yusuf advised Local Government Councils in the State to put in place committee on Emergency relief to enhance disaster management.
