Tunis — A working session devoted to "introduce the quality factor in the setting up of an upgrade farming program", was held on Tuesday in Tunis.
The project aims to develop the farming sector performance, to improve their competitiveness and boost the public and private response to promote its activities. Among the program's major components is to encourage the achievement of a tangible and an intangible investment and the implementation of an action program aiming at improving the quality of farming products.
For 2010, 50 farms will be modernized in grain operations, private production, export, and livestock. Two other programs of modernizing 50 farms are planned for 2011 and 2012. From 2013, this number will increase to reach 100 farms. Chairing the event, Mr. Abdessalem Mansour, Minister of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries recommended the importance of respecting the program's deadlines and to start organizing a national conference dealing with the program's objectives.
He also called for organizing awareness days and to focus on technicians and farmers trainings.
