Somalia: Garowe Meeting Discusses Security and Environment Issues

A delegation of local government leaders and community elders held meeting to discuss some important security and environmental issues regarding Nugal region in Somalia's autonomous state of Puntland, Radio Garowe reports.

The meeting which was held in the regional headquarters in Garowe, Puntland's state capital, was also attended by representatives from the regional authorities.

Abdirashid Isse Wayel, who represented Garowe's district council, urged the community leaders to lead in the front, the development and growth of the region.

On his part, Nugal Governor Abdi Hirsi Ali (Qarjab), who was accompanied by representatives from district levels in the region, reiterated call for leaders' involvement in solving disputes and working for the betterment of the society.

However, peacemaker Abdullahi Mahamed Aw'Isse, charged the regional authority for doing little in terms of solving land issues, while urging representatives to look into their concerns.
