Luanda — The expert in cultural programmes Damir Dijakovic, on Wednesday, here said ratification of the convention on sub-aquatic patrimony by Angola will reduce activities that put at risk the submerged cultural heritage in the national aquatic territory, Angop has learnt.

This was said during the presentation of the theme Convention on Sub-aquatic Patrimony, in the sequence of the workshop on promotion and implementation of Unesco's convention, started on Tuesday, in Luanda.

According to him, the convention on sub-aquatic patrimony is an important international treaty that will provide the country with certain benefits that will protect the Angolan sub-aquatic cultural patrimony.

"Countries such as Namibia and Tanzania, have already ratified the document, constituting a great example on how important is the document in the safeguard of the sub-aquatic patrimony", he said.

The UNESCO convention for protection of sub-aquatic cultural patrimony, adopted by Unesco general conference, on November 02, 2001, is an important international treaty with the goal of protecting the sub-aquatic cultural heritage.
