Angola: Air Means Facilitate Assistance to Floods Victims in Cunene

Ondjiva — Availability of air means by the army and police has facilitated the assistance to the victims of floods in the southern Cunene province, Angop has learnt.

This was said on Tuesday by Angola's Defence minister, Candido Pereira Van-Dúnem, who said the ministry provided two helicopters to make operations in areas of difficult access of cars.

According to him, these operations will make possible communication and sending of some means to some communes such as Evale, Mupa, Humbe, Kubaty and Mukologodjo, in the districts of Cuvelai, Ombadja and Kwanhama

During his stay in Cunene, the minister toured Mupa and Evale communes, where he assessed the situation of floods and met members of local staff. This is the third consecutive year of floods in Cunene, being that 12,000 people are affected, 5,805 students are out of school and 400 agricultural fields destroyed.
