Uganda/Kenya: D-Day for World Cup 2010 Tickets

Kampala — Today is the deadline for remitting money for the 290 World Cup tickets (quota) allocated to all national associations by Fifa.

While Uganda and Kenya soccer fans are still in the cold regarding the tickets, their counterparts in Tanzania are paying for them and their federation look set to beat the midnight deadline. "We received the invoice for our quota and we are definitely going to remit the money to the given account in London for the agents before the close of business," a source in the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) told Daily Monitor on phone yesterday. TFF will remit around Shs130m ($62,000). However, Fufa CEO Edgar Watson said he was still waiting for an invoice from the ticket agents by press time. "I have been on safari, I am yet to check my mail for the communication," the CEO said.

Like all other World Cups, Fifa allocated a quota to all national associations. Fifa in turn send an invoice billing the association plus the account number where the money must be deposited before shipping of the tickets.
