Lagos — Eminent church leaders in Nigeria yesterday rose in support of Libyan leader, Muammar Gaddafi's call for the splitting of Nigeria as a solution to the constant crisis in the country.
They however disagreed with Gaddafi on the number of countries that would emerge from Nigeria, saying that Nigeria should be divided into six different nations.
The church leaders also condemned the Amalgamation of 1914 by the British, noting that it has not helped the country.
Gaddafi had told African student leaders in Libya that Nigeria should be divided into two nations to avoid further bloodshed between Muslims and Christians, saying that the partitioning should follow the model of Pakistan which was carved out from India in 1947.
But reacting to Gaddafi's call yesterday, immediate past National Secretary of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Bishop Joseph Ojo; Presiding Bishop of Church of Rulers International Lagos, Bishop Francis Adeniran and Senior Pastor of Holy Spirit Moving Ministry, Ijeshatedo, Lagos, Pastor Dave Osahon said Gaddafi was not far from the truth.

According to Ojo, the country should not split into two, but into six, saying that he was in full support the Libyan leader's view that the country should be divided.
"I agree with him, Nigeria should be split into six different nations. Gaddafi said the country should be divided into two because of his religious sentiments but the reality is that this nation should split into six different nations.
Any church leader who is saying that the country should not split is speaking through his nose; such a person is saying that because of fear of arrest. The Amalgamation has not helped us at all. In fact it has not helped anybody ", he said.
Ojo who queried the rationale behind Federal Character in a nation, said it was only a ploy to perpetuate injustice in the country, stressing that federation has no character.
"What is federal character, federation has no character by the so called federal character, they place nonentities to oversee those who are far better than themselves", he said.
Similarly, Bishop Adeniran told Daily Champion in a telephone interview that splitting Nigeria into Six places would be the best for Nigerians.
He said each geopolitical zone should become a country of its own and be able to control its resources for a lasting peace in the country.
The cleric said splitting the country into two as Gaddafi has proposed would still encourage crisis among the people.
He lamented the level of cheating in the country, saying that the political class has short changed the people for too long.
"I am in support of splitting this nation because there is too much cheating in this country. This country should be divided into six different nations. Those who are benefiting in this country are those insisting that the nation must remain one. We should divide those who are ruling us. There is no way you can deal with evil in this nation because of its size. The unrighteous have been ruling this country", he said.
Osahon in his reaction said without division, that the problems confronting the country would continue, especially the bloodletting in Northern Nigeria.
He contended that religious killing would not stop if the country remains as it is at present.
"It is very clear that we have deceived ourselves in this country for long. Without division, there must be problems. If we don't divide this country, the killing will not stop. So, Gaddafi is not far from the truth. Let everybody go his separate ways and there will be peace. If the country divides, there won't be such groups like Movement for the Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB),Odua People's Congress (OPC), Arewa Consultative Forum or Movement for the Emancipation of Niger Delta (MEND), people will just mind their own ways.
"The Hausas will not let the southerners go because of what they are benefiting from the South every zone should go its separate way for peace to reign", he said.

Even America don talkam before. Gadaffi only de tell us old story. But David Mack and him band of BOGGY-BOGGY RASCALS called Politicians will not face the truth because they are stealing themselves to death. It is a matter of time. Mack David and c. ,posterity will hold you and your unborn generation for all the lives that will be lost before the right thing is done. Split NIgeria oh !. Horsfall. I.
The problems coming from Northern Nigeria is nothing new and thats the reason Biafra came to be in the 60s in the first place.Unfortunately, the Hausa/Fulani are yet to get the message they are still pursuing the same uncivilized policies of the past and are myopically thinking that they're tribe be at the top the Government in Nigeria at all times. They need to asses their progress since Independence.Nigeria is nothing but a laughing stock by the International body. The Nation has been infested by the biggest corruption ever in Africa as a whole.Whenever these people [the Hausa/Fulanis]appear to be sliping a way as far as leadership is concerned they roll out tanks and suspend the people's constitution as a measure to maintain power and continue the status quo of their backward and stoneAged ruling by force as the Nigerian Armed force is 80-90% illitrate Northerners. With the current constant unrest in Nigeria where Islamic fundamentalist/jihadist terrorist have targeted Innocent Christians in the North, one may be forced to agree with Eminent church leaders in Nigeria to have the country split into at least three[3]with each come with their own constitution and Embassies.Nigerians have suffered for too long on the hands of never do well and lack of vision but Treasury looting and corrupt Northern Nigerian Islamic terrorists.Lets split now unless the North can demostrate that they respect Demorcacy and not dictatorship.
I can say without error that all of you condemning Gaddafi for his suggestion that Nigeria should be split into two are Hausa/Fulanis. Otherwise you are a member of the cabal ripping Nigeria of its goodies and hence you want to maintain the status quo. God has a way of dealing with people like you. GOD MAY NOT BE FAIR BUT, DEFINITELY, HE IS JUST.
As usual, the ignorance of the people representing the church is obvious. Listen Nigerians. Splitting the Country is a short cut that might initially reduce some of the issues but eventually will add more problems and leave all divided states a lot weaker.
Wake up Nigerians! There are no easy answers to the issues we are facing but the road to greatness always involves addressing difficult issues.
Just because the leaders of the country have failed us so far does not mean that there are no leaders that can rule and lead the country to development. Radical steps need to be taken but splitting the country is certainly a weak choice that can only lead to more chaos.
We need to face the following issues headlong:- 1- Separation between state and religion 2 - Separation between state and partisan interests 3 - Selecting and electing leaders that can deal with issues of Nigeria today 4 - Tribalism - "a relic of dinosaurs" !!!
The achievement of the 3rd point will allow items 1 & 2 to be realized.
Let the truth be spoken. The church is part of the problem. If the church had lived up to its expectations, the evil we are facing will not be as strong. Today we have Christians involved in the same evil that is eating away at this potentially great country.
It is alright for Gadaffi to talk. If Nigeria is disintegrated, that will be one headache less on his list.
This is what weak leadership has resulted in. Gadaffi having the guts to talk about disintegrating Nigeria, Saudi Arabia contributing to the plan of our president going AWOL, The agenda of some minorities destabilizing the whole country !!! What next?
If you ask me, We need a completely fresh set of leadership that are selfless, fearless, EDUCATED, with vision and determination to bring this country up to the demands of the current day. These people must be willing to sacrifice their lives in achieving true lasting progress for Nigeria. What Nigeria needs is a complete revolution
