Jos — Residents of Jos heaved a sigh of relief following the first heavy down pour this year which swept away the humid weather of the old tin city and its environs in the early evening hours of Monday.
The rain which started at about 3pm lasted for over an hour bringing all activities to a grinding halt as some motorists plying the highways of the city were forced to park to allow the rain to subside.
The heavy clouds engulfed the eastern part of the city for about quarter of an hour before the rain finally gave way to a heavy downpour that made visibility almost impossible as residents ran for shelter to avoid getting soaked in the mid March downpour that altered the more than three weeks of sunny days experienced within and outside the city.
Most of the streets in Jos were after the heavy rainfall overtaken by gushing water which overlapped from narrow culverts to form small ponds which gathered heaps of dirt in the middle of most roads and called for concern from residents.
