Nigeria: Anichebe Ready to Fight For World Cup Shirt

Lagos — Victor Anichebe returned to Everton's first team fold in January after a long injury lay off and scored during the draw with Birmingham at the weekend. With Swede Lars Lagerback taking over the Super Eagles, Anichebe said he is ready to prove his worth ahead of the World Cup in South Africa.

"It would be nice, but obviously I have been out injured for so long," Anichebe said.

"I am just looking at playing for Everton as I have been out for so long. It would be hopeful to think about the World Cup but we will just have to see what happens."

The 21 year old also went to say that, even if he doesn't make the plane, he will enjoy playing for Everton for the rest of the season.

"The season seems to have flown by for some of the players but for me it is just nice to be playing as I have only returned for the end of it. I am just happy to be involved."
