Luanda — The national director for Museums, Mamzambi Vuvu Fernando, announced Wednesday in Luanda that Angola already meets the established criteria to ratify the Convention on Immaterial Patrimony.

He made the announcement during the presentation of the topic "Convention on Intangible Heritage", which is part of the workshop on the "Promotion and Implementation of the UNESCO Conventions", which started last Tuesday at the Museum of Natural History, in Luanda.

During his speech, the official said that the creation of institutions that work for the conservation, study, valuing and preservation of cultural heritage such as the Vernacular Languages Institute, the Institute for Cultural Heritage and the National Archives, places Angola on a list of countries that meet the requirements to ratify the Convention on Cultural Heritage.

Mamzambi Vuvu Fernando added that the ratification of the accord will enable to have access to a set of international legal instruments that will help preserve the influence of immaterial patrimony.

The Convention on Intangible Heritage entered into force on 20 April 2006, three months after the implementation of the 30th instrument of ratification.
