THE whining and gnashing of teeth over the privatisation programme, which came shortly after Zambia's return to multi-party politics in 1991, may continue for many years to come as many citizens blame it for their lost jobs and lean financial experiences.
It has been widely acknowledged that many Zambians were not prepared for the post-privatisation era, and continue to frown upon the one step the new MMD Government, under former president Frederick Chiluba, took to put the ailing national economy back on its rails.
