Nigeria: UBA Pledges Support for Edo Devt

Benin — GROUP Managing Director- designate of United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc, Mr. Philips Oduaza, yesterday in Benin declared the preparedness of the bank to provide funds to Edo State government to enable it realize its developmental programmes.

Mr. Oduaza, who disclosed this when he led the bank's management team on a courtesy visit to Governor Adams Oshiomhole, said UBA was very pleased with the developmental strides of the state government.

He also disclosed that the bank would provide support for the government by funding its agricultural projects.

Insisting that the security of bank staff was key to management of the bank, the Group Managing Director-designate promised to support the state government in strengthening security in the state.

He maintained that the bank had had a good relationship with Edo State government since Governor Oshiomhole took over and stressed that their visit was to enable the bank strengthen the relationship further.

Responding, Governor Adams Oshiomhole said his administration was working out some initiatives to grow small-scale businesses in the state. He said the government would collaborate with the bank in that regard, including the area of funding agricultural sector to create jobs.
