A Local NGO working toward tracking and monitoring the PRS activities in Liberia, the Poverty Reduction Strategy Tracking Network has concluded a four-day workshop in Monrovia.

The Workshop which was held under the Theme:” Network Integrity Reconstruction” was done through the sponsorship of TIRI in collaboration of the PRS Tracking Network (PRSTN), Liberia Democracy Institute (LDI), the Center for Media Studies and Peace Building (CEMESP), the New Africa Research Development Agency (NARDA),the FOHRD, IPC and Search for Common Grounds.

Speaking Thursday at the close of the four-day workshop held at a local hotel in Monrovia, the Representative of TIRI, Claire Schcuten expressed delight to be in Liberia as a participant in the deliberations, saying that it was a fine moment for her to share those experiences with her Liberian counterparts.

Mrs.Schcuten, also an international partner and sponsor of the whole workshop, said their being together for the past four days was great and entertaining and that they have learnt a lot of new things concerning the PRS and the difficult problems many Liberians are struggling to face in the implementation of the program.

Also marking remarks, the Coordinator for the PRS Tracking Network in Liberia, Jasper Cunmeh thanked participants, especially the TIRI for sponsoring the forum regarding the PRS Tracking Network activities. He said they were opportune to have visited some parts of the leeward counties to abreast them of the situations and conditions there.

He was full of appreciation of the international partners for working assiduously with them.

“It was not easy because for us in order to work like this is the kind of first experience bringing together colleagues from different parts of the world making use of the South- South experience which is not often easy to find because of various reasons; so it is good to have all of you here,” he said.

He added that the workshop was a very great experience which enabled them to share their knowledge and experiences and challenges with their colleagues from the different parts of the world, adding “because we all share some of the legacy of work and share some of the difficulties that accompany war.”

After war, he said the expectations of the people are enormous, as they are yearning for change in their life.

The workshop which began from the 15-18 brought together participants from Afghanstan,East Timor,DR Congo, Sierra Leone, Ivory Coast, and Palestine to share experience with their Liberian Colleagues or Counterparts.
