Liberia: Sen. Banney Urges Citizens To Be Calmed

As tensions continue to brow between Sinoe and Rivercess Counties on land disputes, the Senior Senator of Rivercess County J. Jonathan Banney has called on his citizens to be claimed as the authorities of both counties including the national government is striving to put things under control.

Senator Banney in press statement issued in Monrovia yesterday said that the legislative caucus of the county of the county called on all citizens, residents, supporters, and friends to remain calm and allow the rule of law, decency and honesty to prevail.

Senator Banney recall that the long historic and cordial ties between the two counties and its people “we are intermarried from the time in memorial, and the many individuals, who migrated from Sinoe to Rivercess, were warmly embraced by our people, some served offices as territorial attorney, Superintendent and Member of the House Representative, we can’t allow such relationship to fall apart so soon”, he said.

He expressed thanks and admiration to the government through President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf for timely action in constituting an inter ministerial committee to probe the Rivercess -Sinoe Counties boundary situation.

According to him, the good will and hospitably of the River Cess is evident by their peaceful co-existence with all other groups who live with the people including Kru, Mandingoes, Gio, Mano, and the Fanti from Ghana.

He urged the kinsmen to remain calm and continue the good judgment of the government of Liberia, under the able leadership of the President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.

He however indicated that the county is capable to representing itself in any court of competent jurisdiction, to lie to rest, the unfair and unwarranted provocation of claims the ancient of boundaries.
