Nairobi — The government's move to replace only 2,800 teachers who left service through natural attrition is hardly the best way to deal with a crisis that threatens to drastically lower the quality of learning in public schools.
It is disappointing that Education minister Sam Ongeri announced a figure that is 30 times less than the existing shortage of more than 60,000 teachers.
