Kampala — Major political parties have shifted their battles to Kyambogo University guild presidential race, after Makerere University suspended their guild elections.
The suspension reportedly followed riots caused by Kenyan students at the campus, who were opposing the killing of two colleagues, who were shot dead last Monday amid disagreements between supporters of a Kenyan guild presidential candidate, John Kamau, and the NRM candidate, John Teira.
Kyambogo University's contestants are Charles Otim, (NRM), Peter Bogeye (PDP), and Fred Etyanga (FDC), Isaac Wammanga (LDP), Namundi Ojambo (PPP) Crowne Okello (DP), Omongo Ndungu (PDP) Abraham Byaruhanga and Ronald Kiwuwa, bothindependent candidates.
The PDP party led by its president Abedi Bwanika were reported to have been carrying out aggressive campaigns especially at night in a bid to maintain office after the 2009 win of Charity Byarugaba over the DP party.
