Mozambique: Macamo Calls for More Productive Parliament

Maputo — The chairperson of the Mozambican parliament, the Assembly of the Republic, Veronica Macamo, on Monday called on her fellow parliamentarians "to increase our legislative productivity" as the Assembly's contribution to this year's celebrations of the 35th anniversary of Mozambican independence.

Addressing the opening session of the first full legislative sitting of the year, Macamo also insisted that "we want transparent, careful and modern management", of the Assembly. She promised tight internal checks on expenditure "to improve control over the public resources allocated to the Assembly".
