President Jakaya Kikwete yesterday urged the umbrella Trade Union Congress of Tanzania (Tucta) to call off its planned strike, promising workers a pay to increase in the next Budget. Though he did not indicate by how much the salaries would be raised, the President said this would be factored into the income and expenditure estimates for the 2010/11 financial year.
He said the government was key to improve the workers' incomes, the budgetary constraints notwithstanding.
