Africa: Countries in a Stormy Meeting Over Rights to the Nile Waters

Kampala — Although the Egyptian government worked hard to tame the hostile desert environment, the harsh conditions remained. The heat intensified and tempers flared and became as hot as the desert sun.

This was the mood at last week's meeting that convened in the Egyptian city of Sharm El Sheikh concerning the sharing of the benefits of River Nile. The countries could not reach a consensus over sharing the Nile. Gerald Tenywa attended the meeting and reports.
