Angola: Interior Minister Lays First Stone to Build Prison Units in Saurimo

Saurimo — Angolan interior minister, Roberto Leal Monteiro, laid today the first stone to build four prison units in Saurimo, eastern Lunda Sul province, with a capacity for 600 prisoners, at the cost of 3,8 million USdollars.

The project to be built in an area of 5,447,61 square meters will include administrative and technical areas, the director house, health centre, laundry, dining hall, sport fields, lawyers and psychologists rooms. The Lunda Sul prison has currently 216 prisoners, 139 convicts and 77 detainees.

Present at the ceremony were the provincial governor of Lunda Sul, Cândida Narciso, and the deputy interior ministers.
