Nigeria: 'Country Requires 17.5 Million Houses'

Dr. Mustapha Zubairu, Director of Advancement and Development , Federal University of Technology , Minna, has said that by the end of 2010, Nigeria will require an estimated 15-17.5 million housing units of various types to meet its backlog of housing deficit as a result of increasing rural -urban migration.

The don was speaking in Abuja over the weekend while presenting a lecture titled "Housing the low -income in urban Nigeria: re -thinking the role and responsibilities of the Federal Housing Authority" organised by the Senior Staff Association of Communications, Transport and Corporation (SSACTAC) of Federal Housing Authority (FHA) to mark this year's May Day.
