Nigeria: 'Yar'adua Ensured Accountability in Local Authorities'

Late President Umaru Yar'adua has left the legacy of rule of law that ushered accountability and transparency in the governance of local administrations, the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) has said.

National President of the association Alhaji Dasuki Jalo Waziri said yesterday in a condolence message that Yar'adua also championed peace and stability particularly the amnesty his administration granted to Niger Delta militants. He said the 774 local government council chairmen in the country received the news of the president passing away with deep sorrow and commemorated with entire people of Nigeria specifically his family and citizens of Katsina State.
