Sudan: Ethiopian Peacekeepers in West Darfur Receive Medals

On Tuesday 11 May, 544 members of the Ethiopian military contingent in El Geneina, West Darfur, were awarded peacekeeping medals in recognition of their contributions to the Mission.

Ethiopian Ambassador to the Sudan Ali Abdo was present at the ceremony and commended his countrymen for their dedication and professionalism. "I am very happy that you are properly fulfilling your mission. This medal parade is a testimony of your excellent performance," he said.

Ethiopia has contributed around 2380 Blue Helmets to UNAMID, as well as five tactical helicopters, which deployed in February 2010.
