Nigeria: Uduaghan Explains Green Economy Initiative

Lagos — Ending gas flare, restoring the rivers and renewing land devastated by oil pollution to enable the people return to their traditional occupation has been identified by Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan as the reason behind the Delta Green Economy Initiative.

Governor Uduaghan told a capacity audience in Houston, made up of senior Nigerian government officials led by Minister of Petroleum Resources Mrs Diezani Alison-Madueke, Group Manging Director(GMD) of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Mr. Shehu Ladan, Deputy Governor of Central Bank, Mr. Tunde Lemo, Mr Richard Jones, Executive Director, of International Energy Agency ( IEA), Mr. Andrew Fawthrop ( MD of Chevron) Ms Linda Adams ( Secretary of State of Environment of the State of California) American top executives and investors that Delta state Green Economic initiative strategy was anchored on developing new economic source, that is built on 'Delta Without Oil' and by encouraging sustainable and green industries, collaborating with technology companies and investors in building energy efficient methods in power, agriculture and waste management.
