Nigeria: Emordi - Senate Defies Appeal Court Order

Abuja — The Senate has defied an order by the Court of Appeal, Enugu that Hon. Alphonsus Igbeke of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) should be sworn in yesterday as the validly elected candidate into the Anambra North Senatorial seat.

Senate Spokesperson, Ayogu Eze, said the upper house was in possession of Senator Joy Emodi's notice of appeal to the Supreme Court, which meant that the matter was still alive in the court and any attempt to speak or act on it would be prejudicial.
