Saurimo — The first stage of the Lobito oil refinery will start operating in 2014 with a capacity to refine 115,000 barrels/day, offering 1,000 direct jobs, Angolan oil minister, Jose Botelho de Vasconcelos, revealed today during the 9th consultative council of the ministry taking place in Saurimo, eastern Lunda Sul province.
Addressing the subject "Oil in the era of Angola's Development", the minister stated that after the conclusion of the 2nd stage the refinery will process 200,000 barrels/day, employing some 4,000 workers, at least.
He stressed that the building of the refinery will the country's fuel demands and the export policy.
