Angola: Over 100 Explosive Devices Destroyed in Lucala Locality

Lucala — At least 106 various explosive devices were destroyed on Friday in Lucala locality, in the northern Kwanza Norte Province, by a demining brigade of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA).

The referred explosive devices were deactivated from January to April 2010 in "Coreia Dois" area in Lucala locality.

The explosive devices and other lethal materials which were destroyed comprise 22 machine-guns of different calibres, an RPG7, seven projectiles from various cannons and nine howitzers of T55 war tank.

The commander of the referred demining brigade, Captain Upale Luana Adolfo, said the destruction act was carried out manually with metal detectors equipment, sapper kits and protection equipment.

According to him, works were carried out by 27 staff, among sappers, health technicians, administrative personnel and drivers.
