Egypt has intensified various diplomatic efforts to delegitimise recent new Nile deal signed by four countries.
Yesterday, Egyptian officials on Nile affairs met in Cairo and expressed their anger over Ethiopia's new dam, inaugurated on Nile River last Friday.
"Tana Beles dam aims to provoke Egypt's anger and lead it to taking swift diplomatic behaviour which would turn global public opinion in favour of upstream Nile countries" a statement from the meeting said.
Egypt is preparing to respond to Ethiopia as well as to the signatories of new Nile deal. According to diplomats, Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak is set to travel to Italy, the main financier of hydro dams in Ethiopia.
Mr Mubarak is schedule to meet Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi.
Mr Mubarak also ordered his team to organise a ministerial consultation meeting in Alexandria to reopen a new dialogue with Nile basin countries.
Ethiopia received a multi million loan from the European Investment bank and the Italy government to build at least five of ten hydro dams under construction.
Four hydro power dam construction projects were awarded to Italian firm Salini.
Egyptian diplomats are also rushing to lobby key players in the Eastern and northern Africa region.
Last Friday four Nile Basin countries-- Ethiopia Tanzania Uganda and Rwanda signed the new Nile agreement which proposed fair water utilisation on the River Nile.
Kenya, Democratic Republic Congo and Burundi may sign the agreement soon.

The signatories of the recently signed Nile Treaty should go ahead with other constructive plans for the benefit of their own countries. We should not listen to any tricky from any Tom or Dick in this pressing matter that impacts the lives of our own people in the same way it does the Egyptians and Sudanese. Other countries which are victims of the colonial treaty but are yet to sign the new treaty should be ashamed of themselves for failure to stay the course which is to me a sign of cowardice and hypocrisy.
In actual fact Egypt and Sudan after 81 years of unfair autonomy in the usage of the water owes other concerned countries an apology for denying the same rights something which has stagnated a number of development projects.
Little advece for Egyptian officials: Why you waste time trying to stop progress of Ethiopia? Is it not better to discuss for a better solution & to come to agreement. What you started now seems foolishness. Why you become angry because of "Beles", a single & smoll dam? Wait a little, we will show you more!!!!! Agreement is important to fouvor you & to keep international lows. Then, logically, who shoold beg for an agreement? I believe Nile is enough for all of us. and Ethiopia is not greedy over our Egypitian brothers. Do you think it is fair, that you enjoy and even export agricultural products in the cost of millions who are dying doe to poverty in Ethiopia?... So, why you become angry when we plan and start to make our brades out of nile? Do you have a plan to colonize us sothat you enjoy full control of the nile...... Oh!! that is a history which no one has done on our earth before. So, come to the agreement to have your share of the water , otherwise you are going to loose a garanty to have water at all. That is the truth!!! It is justice that wines!!! Sorry; if I write something bad for my egyptian brothers! My aim is to tell the truth to Egyptian polloticians.
I was in Egypt a few years ago thanks to my grandmother MaMa Ife of the African community of Chicago, I witnessed the restriction of Nubians in the country. Nubian tour guides informed us of cultural imperialism begining to have drastic impact on Nubian children. Nubians have no political voice in the distribution of the Nile. Sub-Sahara Africans should put more pressure on the African Union to get involved in Human Rights and protect African children from cultural imperialism, and develope the unity of the continent, by punishing reactionary elements within the African Union.
