Kigali — THE Kigali leg of the KCB East African Golf tour is good to go, according to the Kigali Golf Club captain Rajan Tiwari.

Rwanda did not have any representative at the just ended KCB Arusha event due to lack of sponsors but Tiwari is certain Jean Baptist Hakizimana and Emmanuel Ruterana will be in full attendance in the four day event which swings into action on June 2.

"They missed out on the Arusha cash but they are already preparing for the Kigali leg and we are hoping for a good display from them," he said.

About 40 professional golfers from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Burundi are expected to grace the event that will have prize money of Rwf7.47m.

In Arusha, Uganda's Deo Akope exhibited strength in character to edge out the Kenyan pair of Richard Ainley and Simon Ngigi in a three-way sudden death playoff at Arusha Gymkhana Golf course.

Akope, Ngigi and Ainley had set the mood for a tight contest when they all birdied the first hole in the playoff but the Kenyans cracked on the next hole for Akope to win the Rwf1.19m cash prize.

After Kigali, the tour will move to Nakuru before heading to Kampala in July. The tour will then wind up with a grand finale at Nyali in Mombasa where Rwf 60m will be dished out in prize money.
