Nigeria: Bankers Explore Financing Options for Aviation Sector

Bankers and financial experts under the auspices of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) will gather for a two day workshop to explore financing options for the aviation sector.

A statement from the Institute said, "Participants at the programme, which is schedule hold from Thursday 3rd to Friday 4th of June, would be adequately exposed to topical issues affecting the Nigerian Aviation sector such as the "Overview of the Nigerian Aviation Industry: Challenges and Prospect"; "Investment Opportunities in the Aviation Sector";

"Statutory and Regulatory Framework and Challenges for Aviation Financing in Nigeria"; "Risk Issues and Management in Aviation Financing: Strategies and Options"; "Cape Town Convention: Challenges of Exploiting the Economic Benefits in Nigeria"; and "Challenges of Financing Aviation Ground Handling Operations in Nigeria".

The event is expected to attract top Management Executives of Banks, Insurance and other Financial Institutions in Nigeria; Top Executives of Airlines and other Aviation Services Providers; Officials of Government Agencies and Parastatals charged with Policy development and implementation in the aviation industry; Officials of Ministries of Transport and Aviation; Aircraft Owners and Operator; Corporate Counsels and Consultants; Officials of Travelling Agencies; Officials of Security Agencies engaged in Aviation operations, etc.

In order to ensure that participants optimally maximize the benefits of the programme, the Institute has gathered experienced and tested technocrats from relevant fields to deliberate on all the identified topical issues.

They include, Dr. Harold Demuren, Director-General, Nigerian Civil Aviation, Barr. Etigwe Uwa, SAN, Streamsowers & Kohn, Mr. Richard Aisuebeogun, Managing Director, FAAN; Mr. Akinsola Akinfemiwa, OON, HCIB, MD/CE, Skye Bank Plc; Dr. 'Biodun Adedipe, Managing Consultant, B. Adedipe & Associates Ltd.; Mr. Bates Sule, Managing Director, NAHCO; Mr. Chike Ogeah, Managing Director, Skypower Aviation Handling Company Ltd and Mr. Chris Azu Aligbe, Chief Consultant/CEO, Belujane Konsult Ltd.

It is expected that at the end of the workshop, participants would be in a better position to appreciate key challenges facing aviation industry development in Nigeria; exploit the financial opportunities in the Aviation sector.

Adopt the global Best practice in aviation financing and manage the risks involved for the efficient service delivery and better returns on investment in the aviation sector and economy. The Chairman of the occasion will be Mr. 'Laoye Jaiyeola, FCIB, President/Chairman of Council while Dr. Uju Ogubunka, FCIB, Registrar/Chief Executive will be the Host at the event."
