Uganda: Rwanda Relations Have Improved, Says Kagame

Kampala — The bad blood between Rwanda and Uganda is no more as the two countries continue to happily get along together, President Paul Kagame has said.

In an exclusive interview with Monitor Managing Editor Daniel Kalinaki in Kigali last week, President Kagame said the benefits of a positive relationship between the two countries had a bearing on the region.

"We can always even continue to do better," he said, adding that his personal relationship with President Museveni had also improved. "We want to continue and encourage it. For very obvious reasons; for the benefits of it. The healthy benefits are not only for the two countries but also for the region," President Kagame said.

Relations between Uganda and Rwanda have been strained for years after the two countries accused each other of harbouring its dissidents.
