ZIMBABWE Ambassador to the United States, Machivenyika Mapuranga, was evicted from a meeting to commemorate Africa Day after hurling insults at an American official who had criticised Zanu PF for failing to observe the spirit of the GPA.
Mapuranga was one of several embassy officials representing African countries who attended Africa Day celebrations held on Tuesday at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Washington DC.
According to a reliable source, Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Johnnie Carson, in a prepared speech, spoke of the progress that African countries had made since their independence from colonial rule.
Carson said that the United States was a strong advocate of African independence and was willing to help the continent to deal with the challenges it faces.
His speech also criticised human rights abuse and bad governance in Zimbabwe, which, did not go down well with Mapuranga.
"In Zimbabwe, ruling Zanu-PF government officials continue to hinder democracy through harassment of the opposition and civil society and failure to honour their obligations to open the political space as called for in the Global Political Agreement," Carson said.
It is said that Mapuranga shouted at Carson from the audience: "You are talking like a good house slave."
"We will never be an American colony, you know that." Organisers of the event asked the ambassador to leave.
The source said the ambassador was booed by other delegates. According to the Washington Post, Carson retaliated by saying the ambassador's outburst could have meant brutal punishment for the offender in Zimbabwe.
"You can sit in the audience in darkness but the light will find you and the truth will find you," Carson said.
"It seems that (President) Robert Mugabe has some friends in the room tonight. Unlike in Zimbabwe, they are allowed to speak without oppression because this is a democracy."
"In Zimbabwe," he said, "that kind of talk would have been met by a policeman's stick. We don't do that here," Carson said before returning to his prepared speech.
Efforts to get comment from the ambassador and the embassy's press department in Washington were fruitless as Mapuranga was said to be out of the office.
Officials at the US Public Affairs Section in Harare could not comment on the issue.
Foreign Affairs minister Simbarashe Mumbengegwi was not in his office when this newspaper called but an official in the ministry who preferred anonymity confirmed that they were aware of the incident.

If what this report says is true that our Ambassador was evicted by the organizers then this just goes to show that even in 'democratic' America people are not allowed to peacefully oppose the regime of Obama. Firstly, why was our Ambassador asked to leave the venue of the celebration of our day, we Africans? The day is for Africans without surnames - not those with surnames like Carson does.
Secondly, why was the Ambassador "booed" by the delegates if America is a tolerant society? They tell us that we should ignore those who do not agree with us because, according to America, "it is their right to have a different opinion". Ambassador Mapuranga did not and does not agree with the views of the 'house slave' and he said so. Instead of praising him for his divergent view, Carson attacked our Ambassador in an intolerant way which is not in light of what Americans tell us they are - a democracy that tolerates opposing views.
What Carson was saying is not only wrong but is totally misplaced. ZANU-PF has not hindered the implementation of the GPA. ZANU-PF has not stifled democracy but has done everything in its power to honor its part of the bargain. It is ZANU-PF that fought for independence and democracy while people like Tsvangirai were busy selling out thereby causing the death of hundreds of freedom fighters. All the remaining outstanding issues are the ball in sellout MDC-T partys court, as follows:-
1. MDC-T needs to campaign for the removal of sanctions that they called for in the first place. They traveled around the world asking imperialist countries to impose sanctions in order to effect regime change. MDC's Biti and Ncube were part of a team that helped draft ZiDERA which is now being amended to ZiTDERA because the 'hyena cannot remain covered in sheep's skin anymore'.
Tsvangirai, while in South Africa, called for the cutting of transport and trade links with Zimbabwe and also called on South Africa and other countries to cut electricity supply to Zimbabwe. Was this not calling for sanctions against the people of Zimbabwe? IT WAS and it is them who should go back to their masters - the Obama regime, the EU and Britain regime - and tell them to remove the illegal, diabolic, barbaric, racist, evil and satanic sanctions against the people of Zimbabwe. Anything short of that means stalling the GPA.
2. America is interfering in our internal affairs against the spirit of the GPA. The GPA is very clear on this issue. As parties to the GPA we should never allow any external forces (America included) to interfere in our affairs. The USA is currently amending ZiDERA so that it, to the gullible ones, appears or sounds as though it is not a sanctions Act and yet the new law authorizes the imperialist country to interfere in our affairs by channeling funds towards ministries run by MDC-T. Is that not interfering in the internal affairs of Zimbabwe? We are a sovereign country that does not need any refereeing or coaching - we know what we are doing and know it better than Carson.
3. MDC-T is running a parallel government structure which is not only against the spirit of the GPA but against the constitution of Zimbabwe. Even their fellow sellouts - the other head of the MDC - are vehemently opposed to this foolish move by the sellout party. Unless we are no longer one unity government then MDC-T can do as it pleases but if we are still bound by the agreement of September 2008 then we should be working for one country, with one President and one Prime Minister.
4. MDC-T continues to polarize us, Zimbabweans, by agreeing to be interviewed by pirate radio stations that have no other agenda than to set us against each other on political grounds. When we fight it benefits them because we lose focus and cannot keep our eyes on the ball. Meanwhile, they will be siphoning our wealth to their countries and by the time we realize it they will have devise another strategy that keeps us away from the means of production.
At a time when we need healing of wounds most, the imperialist radio stations are going out of their way to widen the misunderstanding among us to their benefit and MDC especially MDC-T, seems to have fallen for the bait.
These are just four of the most important outstanding GPA issues and it is MDC-T that is responsible for fulfilling these and not ZANU-PF who Carson is fond of accusing whenever there is something not going on well in Zimbabwe, according to imperialist America. The above four issues are in the GPA that MDC-T signed and not outside it like what Carson wants to import for us. Anything else outside these four is not in the GPA, hence, is not an outstanding issue.
Therefore, for the house slave, Carlson, to lie to his audience (simply because they would not question his falsehoods) is unforgivable. Zimbabweans (not only diplomats) around the world will not allow idiots and foolish fools like Carson to spread propaganda while they watch as if we are stooges. We will tell him point blank that he is "talking like a good house slave." - Which he is.
We will not be silenced and intimidated and will continue reminding people like Carson and all those of the same mind that we are not a colony of theirs and WILL NEVER EVER BE.
PRESS RELEASE ________________________________________ Obama Administration Signals It Will Pursue A Pro-British Anti-Africa Offensive May 26, 2010 (EIRNS)The British empire is still upset about the African-engineered formation of a Unity government in Zimbabwe, and last night the Obama Administration went out of its way, at an event to honor Africa, to show that it subscribed fully to the advancement throughout Africa of the British imperial perspective, and will continue to back that policy. The implications of the pronouncement for British targets of balkanization, beginning with Sudan, is extremely ominous for Africa. Obama, the "son of Africa," is following British orders, and will attack African nations with the same vengeance he is attacking America. In his key-note address to the "Africa Day" black-tie dinner in Washington, D.C. last night, a gala event celebrating the May 25, 1963 founding of the Organization of African Unity exactly 47 years ago, Johnnie Carson, U.S. Assistant Undersecretary of State for African Affairs, violated all norms of diplomacy by including a gratuitous attack on Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe's Zanu party for human rights and good governance violations: "In Zimbabwe, ruling ZANU-PF government officials continue to hinder democracy through harassment of the opposition and civil society and failure to honor their obligations to open the political space as called for in the Global Political Agreement." Zimbabwe attained the highest level of education in sub-Saharan Africa after it attained its independence in 1980, which represented a dangerous development to the British, who targetted the country consistently from that point. The British economic warfare against Zimbabwe provided the basis for the subsequent political destabilization campaign. This British-led operation was upended by then-South African President Thabo Mbeki, who successfully negotiated an agreement on Sept. 11, 2008, for the formation of a Unity government in Zimbabwe. This coalition government began stabilizing the Zimbabwe economy, which seriously hampered British-led efforts to blow up the country. The British empire and its allies then had no alternative but to drop their daily tirades on Zimbabwe. The Zimbabwe economy began to improve, despite the British-led campaign to refuse any assistance for the development of the economy. By dredging up an issue which had been worked out nearly two years ago, the Obama Administration showed its malice against an African country which had been targetted by the British. After Carson's comment on Zimbabwe during his speech, Zimbabwe Ambassador H.E. Machinvenyika Tobia Mapuranga stood and told Carson that "You are talking like a good house slave!" He stood up in the large ballroom, and strenuously objected to Carson's comments. He then left the dinner. Director of EIR's African Desk, Lawrence Freeman supported Ambassador Mapuranga in his defense of Zimbabwe, and joined him along with the EIR delegation in walking out of the event. Mapuranga's action underscored the dangerous significance of the implications of Carson's undiplomatic attack on an African country at an event commemorating the Organization of African Unity (OAU). The OAU was the predecessor organization to the African Union. One of the founding planks of the OAU was that African borders, as inherited from their prior colonial masters, were to remain sacrosanct. The OAU's founders knew that if these borders were not maintained, and countries were divided, then all African countries would be extremely vulnerable to rebellions instigated and backed by the British imperial financial cartel, which could have lead to repeated dismemberment, along ethnic and cultural lines. The Obama Administration has consistently supported the British policy of using the horrendous conditions created in Africa by imperial policies, as the pretext to prevent the development that would eliminate these disastrous conditions. The Obama Administration has consistently supported the British policy of demanding a supposed "democratization," instead of fostering development to eliminate the horrendous conditions created in Africa by imperial policies in the first place. It is these disastrous conditions, about which nothing significant has been done, that have created the conditions that create conditions that can be used to create conflict and destabilization.
Excellent comment.
" .. MDC-T is running a parallel government structure which is not only against the spirit of the GPA but against the constitution of Zimbabwe. .."
Here is another take on ZIDERA: "Political analysts said if the changes are passed into law, most of the support would likely go to ministries headed by Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirais Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) party officials, with those led by President Robert Mugabes allies left in the lurch." http://www.zimbabwemetro.com/headline/zidera-change-will-create-large-probl ems-inside-gnu/

"Tsvangirai, while in South Africa, called for the cutting of transport and trade links with Zimbabwe and also called on South Africa and other countries to cut electricity supply to Zimbabwe."
1) Tsvangirai is part of that government whose success he is undermining. Either he is not aware of that (because he is an idiot) or he is acting wilfully and maliciously(because he is a treasonous scum.)
2) Tsvangirai is a citizen of Zimbabwe - and he is not above the laws of the land.
3) Is treason a high crime in Zimbabwe? If it is, then what does one have to do, and how hard does one have to try, to stand trial for it?
Tell us, in what country would such a person who brings harm to the country and starvation death to its citizens be a part of the leadership or living/free citizenship? What conditions bring about such a dangerous standoff and a national emergency? (The people of Zimbabwe must prepare for a final and conclusive Chimurenga)
What would be Pres Obama's response if a citizen of USA or a party leader went about conniving with the country's known (potential) belligerent foreign parties (say, North Korea or Iran or China or Russia ....) and agitating for harm to befall the country and citizens of the USA? And suppose the ingrate's cursed trips - first class - are paid for by the very people he seeks to harm?
[We still wonder why the people of Zimbabwe can let Tsvangirai get away with it - this long. Are they still afraid of the British? Are they afraid that the British will impose sanctions (as if that is something new)? Or that the whites will invade the country (as if that is something new or that imperial whites need to be apologetic about invading weaker countries like Iraq/Afghanistan/..)?
Mr/Mrs. Takunya; well said note and nothing else but CONGRATULATION. There need to be some senses in some of our puppet and mentally sick African brothers and sisters who lack patriotism for Africa.
