South Africa: Free State Rugby Union Vows to Tackle Mapoe's Sharks Deal

Johannesburg — FREE State Rugby Union president Harold Verster vowed yesterday that the union would fight for the services of wing Lionel Mapoe, despite the player signing a two-and-a-half-year deal with the Sharks last month.

Mapoe left Bloemfontein three weeks ago and headed to Durban despite being locked into a contract with the Cheetahs until the end of next year. A few days later the Sharks announced that they had signed a contract with him.
