Dar Es Salaam — THE former Young Africans Secretary General, Jamal Malinzi has slammed the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) over interference with clubs general elections.
Malinzi stated his protest and grave concerns about TFF's intrusion in elections matters, particularly those involving soccer giants Simba and Young Africans through his constitutional amendments proposal to Yanga chairman Imani Madega.
Malinzi told reporters that he was completely against TFF's involvement in clubs elections and proposed that Yanga constitution should stop the federation's electoral committee from overseeing their elections.
"It is important that Yanga constitution should be self-sufficient and be conclusive in all matters relating to the club," said Malinzi.
The former Yanga leader cited the example of Simba general elections in which, TFF axed the names of four aspirants and said it was unfair for the country's football governing body to have the final say on who should be elected during the club polls.
The TFF electoral committee, under the chairmanship of Deogratius Lyatto axed Michael Wambura, Zacharia Hanspope, Mwina Kaduguda and Chano Almasi from contesting in Simba's general elections, following appeals lodged to the committee by some members of the club.
Yanga are next up as they are expected to hold the election in the coming months, pending the successful amendment of their constitution and Malinzi warned the club against repeating mistakes which put Simba's elections in jeopardy and threatened the club's peace and harmony.
He suggested that the club's executive committee appoint electoral committee and a judicial organ, which, after getting the blessings of the general meeting, should have final say on all matters related to elections.
He queried why TFF was interested on Yanga and Simba affairs only, "Why can't TFF oversee the elections of other clubs especially those owned by institutions such as Prisons and JKT Ruvu or clubs owned by individuals, like Mtibwa Sugar, Azam and Kagera Sugar.
Malinzi's proposal was supported by two other members of the club, Juma Mtandika and Bariki Mosha with membership card number 000277 and 005457 respectively.
