Nigeria: Marriage - Yarima Should Appear With Egyptian Wife, Child Advocate Tells Naptip

A Legal practitioner and a child advocate, Taiwo Akinlami has asked National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Person and other Related Matter (NAPTIP) to demand that Senator Sani Yarima appeared before it with his 13-year old wife during his next visit to the agency.

Mr. Akinlami who also called for prosecution of the Senator for marrying a Minor, argued that since, the said marriage was contracted in the National Mosques in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja where the Child Right Act (CRA) is enforced, he (Yarima) has contravened the law contrary to his argument that he has not disobeyed any law.
