Nigeria: Plot to Remove Oyo Assembly Speaker Thickens

Ibadan — Grievances over inability to assert his leadership position has pitched the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Maroof Atilola and some legislatures in the assembly against each other.

The aggrieved members have been collecting signatures of colleagues to prepare the ground for the removal of the Speaker who is serving his second term in the Assembly. Checks by THISDAY revealed that another reason the lawmakers are up in arms against the Speaker was the need to reposition the Assembly's to its truly pace-setting status in the area of qualitative delivery of legislative duties for the good of the people of the pace-setter's State.
