Liberia: Ngafuan Questions Morlu's Credibility - Wants AG Out of U.S.$54 Million General Claims Audit

The Minister of Finance Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan has reacted to Auditor General John Morlu's claims that the Ministry can not account for US$54M, and has therefore requested the AG to excuse himself from any audit of the General Claims segment of the National Budget.

The Finance Minister, writing to the Auditor General on June 2, 2010, said it is prudent to have a neutral auditing body to audit the General Claims since Auditor General John Morlu has already prejudiced the pending audit by stating in official letters and media publications that "government cannot account for US$54 M of the General Claims".
