Nigeria: 3,000 Flood Victims Get Relief

Birnin Kebbi — Over 3000 people displaced by flood in seven local government areas of Kebbi State at the weekend have received relief materials from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA). The relief materials which include, cement, roofing sheets, planks, blankets, mattresses, rice, beans, maize, millet, detergent, vegetable oil Salt and other materials are said to be worth over N 40million.

The materials were handed over to the state government by the North West Zonal Coordinator of NEMA Alhaji Mustapha Suleiman. Presenting the materials to the Special Adviser to the state governor on State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) Alfa Ruwa Bunza, Alhaji Mustapha said government was mindful of the occurrence of such disasters and that necessary arrangements and measures had been put in place to address them.

Receiving the materials on behalf of the state government, the Special Adviser on SEMA Alfa Bunza commended NEMA for its efforts. He also urged NEMA to help SEMA to train people in the state on ways to tackle emergency situations.
