Nigeria: 2011 - Will FCT Minister Challenge Yuguda?

Bauchi — From all indications the ruling People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Bauchi State is the party to beat in next year's general elections considering the number of prominent people who have decamped to the party in recent months and the indication that the minister of the FCT Senator Bala Moahammed Duguri may soon return to the party. The state governor, Malam Isa Yuguda, was the first to return back to his former party [PDP] in April, 2009 along with several aides and supporters. Just last month, Action Congress' only elected senator, Nazif Suleiman Gamawa, representing Bauchi North, also defected to the PDP.

Duguri, who was representing Bauchi South at the upper chamber of the National Assembly, was appointed minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, by the then acting President Goodluck Jonathan.
