Namibia: Oshakati Celebrates World Cup Kick

Oshakati — Hundreds of people in Oshakati, including many school children, took to the streets early Friday morning in celebration of the FIFA World Cup opening in South Africa.

Before 07h00, a convoy of cars, bikes and trucks drove from First National Bank (FNB) Oshakati, Main Branch along Oshakati Main Road to Yetu Shopping Centre, shouting and blowing vuvuzelas. Some people were wearing their favourite teams' colours and flags, some even had their cars painted in the colours of their country of choice.

The convoy was organised by FNB Oshakati.

"I must say that indeed this is history in the making and it is a privilege for us to be associated with an event of this magnitude," said FNB Lifestyle Banking consultant, Pandu Uahengo.

According to Uahengo, FNB has so far sponsored 213 customers and 93 employees with tickets for them to go and watch different World Cup games.
