Uganda: New Vision Woman Achiever 2007 Gives Hope to Teso Girls

Kampala — On the classroom floor, Diana Anyaita, 20, folds an empty paper bag of cement into a dummy dress and shorts. This is a technique she has learnt in her tailoring class at Apolo Na Angor. The organisation offers vocational skills to disadvantaged girls in Bukedea district in eastern Uganda.

Anyaita is an albino and one of the most disadvantaged girls in the community. As I interview her, her classmates shout "mzungu" but she is not upset as she says her classmates are just fond of her.
